Introduction
Colorful Rotating Chinese Lantern: A rotating lantern with changing colors that is both, artistic and holistic. It provides healing color moods, making a more peaceful environment. Lanterns have a long history in Chinese culture. You can sight lantern during moon cake festival and chinese new year, just to name a few. I have going to make a rotating lantern with changing colors. Here I am combining artistic and health themes into the project. Healing color is used to influence mood, calm nervous system, make environment peaceful.
I received the contest kit early last week and waited for week plus to write first blog post. Here are the kit that I have received:

Component required
For this project, I will be using some recycable materials to build the latern. Drinking water plastic bottle and gift wrap paper will be used to make the structure of the latern.

I may want to add face recognition feature whereby face identification will determine the mode of latern. Sound will added if time permits.
Action plan
The project will be made by stages and each stage will take about 2 weeks.
- Stage #1: Making other structure of the latern
- Stage #2: Hardware and software setup
- Stage #3: Select and design the mode for the latern using colors and speed of rotation
- Stage #4: Make the hardware and software to work together
- Stage #5: Adding face recognition and may be sound to the system
- Stage #6: Touch up and project completion
The above gives a brief idea of what is going to be built. Details will be added and presented in the weekly reports for the various stages. The design and concept may change at a later stage.
