All 15 of the sponsored Challengers for the PiCasso Design Challenge will receive for FREE the the kit detailed in the table below. 

Our judges will choose 15 applicants to become sponsored challengers, and they will receive the kit free of charge. If you are not a sponsored challenger, you can still compete as a non-sponsored or independent challenger.  See note below.*

 

Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+
  • Dual band 2.4GHz and 5GHz IEEE 802.11.b/g/n/ac wireless LAN, Bluetooth 4.2, BLE connectivity
  • PoE capability via a separate PoE HAT
  • Gigabit Ethernet over USB 2.0 (maximum throughput 300Mbps)
  • Full Size HDMI, MIPI DSI display port, MIPI CSI camera port
  • 4 x USB 2 ports

 

Once the sponsored Challengers receive their kit, they will then embark on their journey of designing an exciting and original project that uses the Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ to create a master piece or home installation to improve the surrounding aesthetics. (NOTE: Even if you aren't a sponsored Challenger, you can still participate in the Design Challenge as long as you integrate the Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+ into your design.)

 

The deadline for project application submissions is 1st March 2019.

Raspberry Pi Model 3 B+

Raspberry Pi 3 model B+ is a credit card sized single board computer that plugs into a monitor or TV and uses a standard keyboard and mouse. This is a little PC which can be used for many of the things that desktop PC does. The design is based on Broadcom BCM2837B0 Cortex-A53 (ARMv8) 64bit system on chip with 1.4GHz quad core processor and 1GB LPDDR2 SRAM. It works on reliable operating system such as Raspbian, Windows 10 IoT Core, Arch Linux ARM, RISC OS, OSMC and Pidora.

PiFace Digital 2

The PiFace Digital 2 is an add on board for Raspberry Pi that allows for connecting things that will influence the world around it. It includes components like relays, switches, digital and analogue I/O that will allow for connection to sensors, motors, lights etc and can be controlled by Raspberry Pi board. This add on board fits neatly above the Raspberry Pi and connects using the expansion connector. Ensure that all expansion pins are lined up with the holes on the PiFace Digital 2 socket.

Raspberry Pi Camera V2

The Raspberry Pi Camera Module v2 is a high quality 8 megapixel Sony IMX219 image sensor custom designed add-on board for Raspberry Pi, featuring a fixed focus lens. It's capable of 3280 x 2464 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60 and 640x480p60/90 video. It attaches to Pi by way of one of the small sockets on the board upper surface and uses the dedicated CSi interface, designed especially for interfacing to cameras.
