This is my Third blog post for the Rocking Raspberry Pi Challenge, as I have not yet received Raspberry Pi and other goodies, I thought that its a good time to discuss the Precautions that should be taken while working with Raspberry Pi. Raspberry Pi is a must have board for those in electronics hobby, but one should be careful while using it, below are some precautions that you must take...
1 ). Be Careful while Touching Pi : It is a common practice not to touch any bare circuit boards or chips directly, this is done to protect them from any static charge that may have accumulated in the body which can kill your Raspberry Pi.. For this I suggest that one should ground himself by touching any grounded metal object an be bare foot if you have a concrete floor like mine, use a grounded anti-static mat as well to be sure.
But the one most effective and cool way of doing it would be to put your RPi in a case there are lots of them in the market, but if you want to go cheep then try " The Punnet Case " which is a DIY case for RPi which you can make out of Paper/cardboard. Its easy, fun to make and FREE !!!

2 ). Choosing the Right Power Supply : Raspberry Pi is powered via the micro USB port on it, and as it is USB it is obvious that it works on 5 Volts, RPi draws about 700 - 800 mA of current but it is advised to you a power supply which can deliver 1000 mA or more current, because when peripheral devices are connected to the RPi it can draw more power. My advise is to you any micro USB mobile phone charger which is rated for 1Amp or more..
3 ). Choosing the Right USB Hub : As the two USB ports on the RPi gets occupied quickly, so if you want to connect another USB device you will need a USB Hub, Ma ke sure to buy a Powered one as the USB ports on Raspberry Pi can only supply 100 mA of current which will prove to be insufficient to power the USB hub and the USB devices Connected to it, Hence a Powered USB Hub is a must. It also gives you the opportunity to power the Raspberry Pi through the USB hub so you won't neet to buy an extra power supply.
OK these are all precautions that came to my mind, if I have forgot any thing or you have any other questions please be free to tell/ask in the comments..
I am writing this in this blog because i was once a beginner once and beginners do some silly mistakes and kill their RPi, so i thought it would be a good idea to write it in the Rocking Raspberry Pi Challenge Group because almost all of us are new to RPi and I don't want anybody to kill their Raspberry Pi BVIOUSLY....
