Meditech: Intro to serial printing

Printer is here!

image

Well this is the Meditech printer (or what it will become in very few time, hopefully).

Hardware details

  • Printing method: thermal on paper rolls 5 inches wide (about 55mm)
  • Printing speed: 90 mm / min
  • Power supply: 12V CC
  • Communication: Bluetooth 4.0
  • Printing protocol: ESC/POS standard protocol (aka EPSON protocol)
  • Monochromatic graphic support

State of the art

Next step is to make it printing on the Raspberry PI image while for now the RPI has been set with the Bluetooth support and is able to pair the printer, saw as a serial device.

That's good looking printer. Though it seems quite slow judging by the specs.

It is. A good and robust hardware. But nothing is definitive I am seeing if I can or can't extract an axe from my pocket... For testing sure it is perfect and what it is important is the serial communication…

Ahh that looks a bit faster than the 90mm / min value stated on your spec list.

    Thats a relief. image

Where did you find the printer?

It is. A good and robust hardware. But nothing is definitive image I am seeing if I can or can't extract an axe from my pocket... For testing sure it is perfect and what it is important is the serial communication and the specific protocol management.
