PizzaPi: Quick Update

11 May 2015

Hello, everyone!

Sorry I have not posted much recently. I would be remiss in my contestant responsibilities if I did not keep up with my updates and give a quick heads up on how things are going with PizzaPi!

Last week I started my 10-week full-time internship at the lab I work at and its been a bit of a challenge getting used to working all those hours! I'm actually spreading these 10-weeks over a 20-week period, so in a few weeks I'll be off again and I'll be more active around here.

Today I tried to rebuild my setup and make sure everything is still in working order. All the parts are working, so that's definitely good. I installed a web server on the B+ and I'm investigating the use of MQTT to handle the transfer of sensor data to the other Raspberry Pi. It's touted as the protocol for the Internet Of Things. I've never used it before but I'm going to use it for this project.

Here's some links for more background:

An Open Source MQTT v3.1 Broker

I'll write more about how I set it up between the two Pis later. Sorry I've been silent all week! I'm still in the game, just trying to do a good job at work, too! Oh, and what I do at the lab is mostly computer science. I'm developing a web database to house information and analysis of samples. I'd like to move more into the robotics side of the lab, but I have to do some intense schmoozing this summer to make that happen!

More later!

Oh, don't worry. I purposely scheduled my internship to be spread over 20-weeks so I could have several weeks off in between.

Like Mark said keep the updates regular even if you haven't done much the act of regularly communicating will keep you moving on and less likely to just stop after a few hard weeks ...good luck!

It's always a nuisance when work gets in the way of doing other things ...

Time management is one thing these challenges always highlight, so keep an eye on the plan and try to ensure you stick with it.

    Mark
