This is just to prove that the LEDS on the Light ring are individually addressable and working.

The speed of the chasing is varied slightly in the video.

Variations of this simple theme can be used for lighting effects.

You can chase one LED, some LEDs, all LEDs, use sectors, change colours and control brightness.

You can even add various triggers such a proximity sensor.

I could even build a Solar system model with multiple rings (and motors to handle the elliptical orbits and axis offsets).

Would  be nice to see what a chasing ring would do for a long exposure macro photo... It would have both shadows AND highligths. Can you test that? The angle of the lense with respect to your subject would change a lot in the light mode...

    Hi Monte,

    I agree, very well done.

You have inspired me to buy some LED strips to start playing with.  Got them at Radio Shack during their end of the year sale.

Also picked up a remote controlled helicopter at 50% off.  You gotta love inventory sales.

"you are feeling sleepy ... in a few minutes ..."

Well done, yes it does give very flexible lighting options.

You could double the brightness on one side to create a shadow effect.
