Hello everyone.
Late in 2022 I was announced as Grand Prize winner of Summer of Sensors Design Challenge in category In the Air Tonight. As part of competition, I wrote 9 blog posts regarding my experiments with Renesas ZMOD4510 Outdoor Air Quality Sensor. About one week ago I received the prize. It consists of two parts: Apple iPad Pro and Philips Air Purifier.
iPad Pro is 4th generation with 11” screen, 256 GB of Storage and Wi-Fi connectivity. I already had iPad Pro from previous Experimenting with Current Sense Amplifiers competition. This new has smaller screen but has twice the size of storage. I will think about it and then select one which I will give to some lucky member of my family.
Philips Air Purifier is AC0820/10 model. It is quite large device (compare with box of iPad). I expected it smaller. It has integrated air quality sensor, but it is not ZMOD4510. ZMOD4510 which I used as part of competition is based on completely different technology. ZMOD4510 detect presence of gases but sensor in this air purifier is based on detection of small particles which is done in optical way. Air purifier pass air from sides (dots at bottom) to the top through filter. According to data from its particle sensor it shows one of four colors on top control panel: blue (best air quality), purple, violet and red (worse air quality) depending on current air quality. It supports four speeds (corresponding to air quality) and can drive motor automatically (based on actual air quality) or you can manually force lowest speed (referred as sleep mode) and fastest speed (referred as turbo mode). In my room it shows mostly good air quality but if I use some spray, it temporarily shows worse air quality and increase speed. In few minutes smell from spray is filtered out even in room with closed windows.
At the end I would like Element14 for sending me this reward and organising whole contest. I would also like Renesas for sponsoring this competition and finally I would like to thank all readers of my blogs which I posted as part of this competition. Thank you all very much.
