Waste Food Management Blog #8   Machine Assembly #1

This week I spent most of the time to assembly the machine by putting all components together.  As I mentioned in Blog #7 the power supply cannot supply enough current.

I had changed to use 12 - 5 V adapter used for mobile phone which is very small and can handle up to 2.4 Amp as shown in the picture.

From my draft design,   I need to improve my original design to meet these criteria.

o The machine must high enough for comfortable use.

o Can find available material in the market.

o Easy to take off the bin.

o Not too big bin,  then do not need a big motor for stirring.

From these criteria, I choose to use a small three drawer cabinet as the base, First drawer will use for food crusher and EM valve. Second drawer use for stirring all ingredients together. And third drawer use when the second drawer full and install the valve for any liquid that may come with food waste. (For example fruit)

The first drawer will take out to install the meat grinder machine and EM valve.

The second drawer will use for stirring.  For stirring, I use a CD with lego components to make each paddle.

I made three CDs and connect them to motor as shown in the picture. I made three rectangle holes for dropping waste to the third drawer when the second drawer full.

At the base, I install four pod to lift up the machine and install the water valve attached to the third drawer.

Next, I will complete assembly the machine and test in a real environment.
