Back to the Future
I'm back from vacation to find that a whole lot of goodies that I've been waiting for have arrived.
The most exciting is the Texas Instruments DRV8312-C2-KIT.
Like the TMDSRGBLETKIT - (Multi DC/DC LED Kit) it is a member of the C2000 32-bit Microprocessor Family.
Both use a C2000 Picolo DIMM and like the MSP430 is programmable from TI's Code Composer Studio.
These modules will be commanded under the management of the MSP430FRAM5739.
The C2000 is extremely powerful and are well suited for their intended tasks.
Driving a LED or two with an MSP430 is one thing. Controlling a high powered bank of LEDS is another because we require constant current or constant voltage or both with high precision to obtain consistent high quality output.
Also arrived are some Nokia 5110 LCD screen replacements for the Animated Toy Text Display.
However I'm currently tracking down the root cause of why these supposed direct replacements don't at the moment.
(It could be just me....)
It is always good to have spares available just in case the inevitable happens and you blow one up.
(Far too easy do with 2N7000RLRAG2N7000RLRAG MOSFETs!)
