Wrapping things up.

 

Here is a picture of me practising the ancient art of Wire Wrapping.

  • I wouldn't call it the ancient art, but I suggest you only wire on the long ends of the posts.

    The short ends were supposed to be soldered into the board.

    I was anticipating this response but only from someone knows about Wire Wrapping.

    There's a reason why I've wire wrapped the short ends and not the long ones.

    Hard to see in the picture but its actually a 8 row x 2 x column header and using it as a follow me through bus adapter.

    Rather than using a bit of strip or vero board, I've wire wrapped up adjacent pins on each row to save some time.

    i.e. 1-1, 2-2, 3-3,... 8-8.

     

    The wire-wrapped ends are then soldered to an 8 way socket.

    The long ends retain their original function as mating ends to inline sockets.

    If you think wire wrapping is old, you should go look at what we had to do before we had it.  It was ugly and prone to problems, hence the development of wire wrap.

     

    You young duds are just too spoiled with the modern capabilities. image
