Feeling Isolated

The ISO7221ADs arrived and I have mounted one on a new PCB that I just designed and milled specifically for them.

These are good insurance policy against ruining expensive control modules, the CC3000 and rest of the project hardware.

The datasheet specifies that its decoupling capacitors must be mounted about 2mm from the power pins.

  • I agree.

    If you are switching any device on the main power lines, you can get some very interesting line reflections.  I have lost more than one device to an EM spike and not enough filtering.

    I do like the optical isolators with the built in voltage isolation.  I need to take a closer look that the TI product line for these.
