Welcome to a new group which will promote and chronicle the Ultimate Road Test.
Step #1 join the group and begin following the projects and interacting with the competitors.
"Innovation can be an adventure; this represents the start of the journey."
element14 in conjunction with Texas Instruments are pleased to announce the Ultimate Road Test, a competition which will stretch the capabilities of three highly skilled and creative engineers from across the globe whom element14 has selected to take up the challenge. The competition will be judged by a panel of experts from Texas Instruments, making the contest not only an opportunity to use leading edge tools, but also a chance to interact with leading figures from one of the top electronics engineering firms.
Ultimate RoadTest Design Challenge: design and build a working prototype using TI development tools, software, and design tools. The design must demonstrate an innovative application / solution for the Home Automation Market. The end application must mainly be comprised of TI products and must include functional elements that utilize wireless, sensing, motor control, and lighting technologies.
EXPECTED RESULTS:
- Regular blog updates on the experience and project status from the competitors
- “Plus points” given for video uploads and more hands-on examples which other engineers could use to follow the design process
- Regular uploads of design files and other design elements used and generated during the development
- Regular summary of lessons learned and best practices discovered during the design process
- “Final” comprehensive summary of the project and experience with the full ecosystem of design tools used. Summarize in detail the experience and access to complete ecosystem of design tools and elements used to accomplish the task and overcome the challenge. Requirement to post references to information used and design files so that other engineers can replicate the design and learn from the experience.
REQUIREMENTS: The project must demonstrate usage and provide a detailed report on the experience in all of the following areas...
- The design concept must begin and expand upon TI’s CC3000 SimpleLink MSP430-FRAM Evaluation Module Kit ( CC3000-FRAM-EMKCC3000-FRAM-EMK )
- Demonstrate use of other TI Development tools to compliment the design and meet the application functional requirements for wireless, sensing, motor control, and lighting.
- Demonstrate and share what you learned about TI’s CC3000 Wi-Fi for MSP430 FRAM MCU
- Demonstrate use of the free version of TI’s Code Composer Studio during the design process - TMDSCCS-ALLF01TMDSCCS-ALLF01
- Demonstrate use of TI’s MSP430Ware and other MSP430 software during the design process
- Demonstrate use of CadSoft Eagle with a virtual schematic of the final prototype. L-1CPL-1CP
Lets get started with the Ultimate RoadTest Design Challenge... best of luck to the chosen competitors!
