I think now I can safely say that my first Element14 Road Test challenge is finally complete!!
The stationary module reads a text file with the file name given by the unique code of the ID card and transmits relevant lecture details or deadlines to the ID card which then displays it.

The stationary part is the Wireless power transmitter and an Arduino Uno (connected to my laptop) with a wireless transceiver chip:
The Smart "wireless" ID Card (I need to clean up the interconnecting wires and build an acrylic casing or something of that sort to hold the circuitry in place behind the BADGEr):
