I finally found a use for that one piece of wood my dad kept in the garage for decades and I took it over to store it in the basement.
An old laptop, that has all the right connectors you would now never find on a laptop like RS232 with a broken keyboard. A cheap sata SSD with a fresh ubuntu install.
the holy piece of wood (not even a single cut needed) and a trash picked TV mount culminate into a dedicated Laser control computer.

Also featuring a metal bracket that was left over form the latest Element14presents video.

Did you ever use that one piece of wood ? I know you have one there is no point in denying it.

  • Well done!  You never know when you will need anything.  You usually find out shortly after you throw it away.

    I have been cleaning my shop up, hoping to finish up some of the long-delayed project in there.  I decided to buy a couple of 35-gallon trash cans to hold odd board ends. When my granddaughter came over the other day, she was over the moon with the wood scrapes in the cans, she asked if she could have some of the wood. She ended up finding a nearly perfect cube that she decorated and took home.  One man's trash ............
