#badass Woman Project Entry - Ritvi Mishra

Name:  Ritvi Mishra

Current home town:  Pune, India

Did you attend university? Yes, I am currently a sophomore, pursuing bachelor's in technology, majoring in Electronics and Telecommunications

Current Job: I am currently interning. I am working on a project that involves connecting to MQTT via a GSM module(GPRS).

My favorite projects from element14 presents are: I love re-purposing videos and the very conceptually exploring videos, hence my favourite  element 14 videos are mostly from the learning circuit and the electronics inside

My project:

In this project we are creating a MQTT mesh which once set-up can be used for anything under the sun. This personally though is a first part towards building a smartphone controlled watering system.

The following are the requirements(components, software, etc..):

  • Raspberry Pi with wifi/network connection(used here: Raspberry Pi 4)
  • Any ESP8266 Module(used here: Node MCU)
  • Arduino IDE
  • Pyhton3
  • LEDs (or any other component like buzzer, motor, etc. which can be interfaced with GPIO pins)
  • Resistors(10k, 100ohm)
  • Jumpers
  • Breadboard
  • Power sources for both the controllers
  • Smartphone with playstore
  • MQTT interfacing mobile application

    Hey,

Yes, mesh systems are great in crisis situation. Definitely got my head churning with ideas.

Thank you for taking time to watch the video.

No I do not have a youtube channel yet. I will make one once I have part 2 of this project ready. I will post it here as soon as I make one.

Thank you again for your time

    Hey,

Thank you for taking the time to give a feedback. I agree it doesn't cover much content, but having learned a lot through tutorials myself, I feel it's very important to cover the smaller details and steps. I wanted to make sure that it was something a complete newbie can use. So I though of doing it in parts. I am actually working on a automated plant watering system.

But I understand where you are coming from in context with this contest. I will keep in mind the following while making more tutorial videos:

    - Making sure the camera stays in one position, preferably horizontal.

    - Keep things interesting with a destination or goal, so that there is a story.

Thank you tons for your time!

This is the kind of project that would be vital for climateaction climatecrisis in areas like data & warning proactive solutions .. power outages/natural disasters/transport infrastructural damage

Do you have a YouTube projects channel? So I will add the video to a YouTube playlist here to keep track of channels/videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFDZhLtOt5g&list=PLUqSARZt5KdEc90IqY_D4yOoR3qGEeSMC&index=2&t=0s

Please film horizontal video on a fixed camera, the movements make this tough to watch. I would have loved to see this being used in a project, instead of a showcase on how to get started with MQTT. It's always nice to have a story to tell, like how you can turn on/off a lamp in your room from your bed or something like that. You said it yourself that it's a simple concept that can be used in so many ways image Hope my feedback doesn't come off too harsh, you are very knowledgable and my main complaints are how this was filmed, which is easy to fix for a next video image

Thank you for sharing your project and good luck with the contest!
