    we could use a solenoid operated with a brain controller

    like a neuro sky to crush the can using THE FORCE

  • The "Twist and Shout" image (shouting is optional). I don´t drink a lot from cans lately, but i remember from my teenage years that i liked crushing cans with my bare hands. I didn't have to use much strength because i would twist the can from the ends and then crush it (plus usually making a dent inwards with one or two fingers in each side of the can) thus making can crushing effortless. May be you can go with this method using some "claws" to hold and twist and two nails or anything pointy to make the dent on the sides..

    edit: afterwards thinking...: it would be even simpler just denting the sides and crushing without the twisting, it would require more strength but it would be a simpler device to build.

  • Looking at the Mk1 version perhaps rather than using the winch to move the handle perhaps it could raise a large weight, that could then be released by a solenoid or cam and the weight would  pull down the handle resetting the machine to start again.

    As Lee says some kind of eject mechanism is really needed.

  • I vote for the hydraulic version with a bottom that open up to drop the can into the recycle bin. Maybe even a multi loader like a revolver so several can can be inserted and the machine will work away crushing cans while you go back to work.
