I was thinking this could make a nice Valentine’s Day gift for someone who works in an office building.
I would like to make a pot of artificial flowers that have RGB leds in them that indicate what the weather is doing outside (*note: I am Australian and we use degrees Celsius, an lcd screen in the side of the pot could be used to indicate temperature in Fahrenheit rather than the flowers themselves).
I was thinking of making the arrangement like the image attached (top down view) with the inner ring representing the first digit and the outer representing the second digit of the temperature and a little blue led in the middle to indicate whether it was a negative or positive number.
The pot could house an arduino or other device which checks an internet service for the weather report and outputs the result on the bunch of flowers like this:
Temperature indicator flowers slowly pulse with red. The rest of the bouquet pulses a different colour indicating the weather E.g.: Yellow: sunny, Blue: rainy, White: snowy, Purple: windy.
You could have combinations of them if; it’s windy and sunny ½ the flowers are yellow the other half are purple, etc.
Do you have any suggestions for how to approach this project? Would you use with an arduino and shields or a different device? What is the best way to output to this number of rgb leds if you were using an adrduino?
