I think an interesting episode would be to tear down a low-end chromebook, and a low-end (similar price) laptop, and then see what is actually different
about them. I think it would be an interesting and informative episode.
PS. what does ben think about tinkercad? (tinkercad.com) It looks interesting.

It's not that interesting. 
They are pretty much the same. The difference is in the OS and the BIOS. You can take a chromebook and dual boot it to linux. Or you can get Chrome OS and install it on a laptop.
I took a brief course on this at O'reilly OSCON one year, given by Google, and we tore down an Acer Chromebook and messed around with coreboot. The name of the session was hacking coreboot.
