Hey guys
I am big fan of your show and I decided to share an idea I am considering these days. I know you did an episode about KODI media station a while ago but the project is growing and improving constantly, so I Think KODI deserves another episode
What I find very annoying is that all the consoles and settop boxes are placed "around" the TV plus every Raspberry build is housed in its own enclosure so it also piles up too. Point being - why no have the Raspberry built inside the TV itself? Any modern widescreen TV (24" or more) has a lot of space behind it so you could easily add useful stuff there - the Raspberry plus some laptop/desktop HDD array and so on. One extra here is that Raspberry supports HDMI CEC so you wont need extra remotes - the default TV remote will do the job just perfectly.
A big plus would be if the Raspberry is always ON even when the TV is off - this way one could use the storage attached as a NAS and when you want to move from the PC to the living room - you already have your movies there. Plus when you sync your photos regularly you can easily share them with friends and so on. A big problem I have encountered is powering off the Linux system properly and I ended up with a few broken filesystems cause the TV just halts the USB power when switched off. An extra would be an USB extension that could be mounted on the side of the living room table. This could be used to easily attach flash drives, recharge joysticks, sync cameras and phones and so on.
I would love to see your approach on such project if you guys also find the idea useful.
