Ok, Ben Heck... Let's see you build this?

Hello again Ben, Karen and Felix,

I was watching an episode where you compared one video game to another.  In it you showed us what was inside the video game cartridges.  A small board with the Game programmed onto it.  After watching you build the slot loading Nintendo I had an epiphany.  Wouldn't it be awesome to have a video game juke box.

So here is my challenge.  Build a retro 50's style juke box that houses games instead of 45's.  Removing the boards from the cartridges would allow it to be compact and maybe even look like the old compact models that used to be on the booth tables at Diners.  That would look awesome sitting near someone's TV.  Walk up, drop in a dime, select C7, and Super Mario Bros. loads up ready for play.  I am sure you can do it with the CD games, but where's the fun in that?

I have confidence in you Ben.  Will you accept the challenge?

Have a great day,

Ben

If you remove the boards from the cartridges to allow it to be more compact, then what were you planning to put on show visually ? When I think of an old 45's Jukebox mechanism I think of something along the lines of this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z0z2Bc-C79w

Using the Atari 2600 as an example here seeing as Ben has been recently working on one, a quick Google reveals that there are around 750 Atari 2600 game cartridges available for download, each being around 4k in size. AtariAge - Atari 2600 ROMs

Even without the cartridge, then that will take up a considerable amount of space, and would be rather costly to dump all that data back onto 4k EPROMS. Even using CD's would be overkill as all 750 titles would fit onto around 4MB of flash storage.

On a side note, what I found quite novel was the Jakks Pacifc "Atari Plug n Play 10 in 1" launched back in 2003 where they squeezed the Atari 2600 console plus 10 games inside the original 2600 system joystick.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ1_Pe51v5Q
