Raspberry Pi Synthesizer

Hello,

I'm new to electronics but I have almost completed my first project... Raspberry Pi arcade machine!

It got me thinking , as a musician, how cool it would be to make a synthesizer using the raspberry pi, midi keyboard, LCD screen and most importantly loads of nice colourful buttons, knobs and sliders...

Anyone have any experience of this sort of project or does Ben heck want to take on this???

Check out the midi hack epeisode to know more about the insides of the midi.

I don't know how well it would run, but you might be able to use LMMS, which is an Open Source Linux sound making program

After looking into it and seeing what can be done I've decided to do a few things which will hopefully work...

    1) make 2 oscillators, a sine wave and square wave... I've found stuff on instructables.com to do this...

    2) gut a load of guitar pedals... Delay, overdrive, phase, fuzz, etc...

    3) try and replicate the famous moog filter

    4) box it up with a patchbay style signal flow and amp and speakers

What I'm not sure on is how to have 1 power socket for the whole thing and how to connect a midi keyboard to the oscillators...

It's a bit of a big project for my second ever project but I like to throw myself in at the deep end!!

This is the layout I have pictured......

All the oscillators and effects have on/off buttons but I dont want these...

The oscillators have wave width and velocity...

It would be nice to have a midi controller triggering both the oscillators...
