What do you think of Minecraft pi edition?
I like the concept of teaching kids how to interact with the game using code, but I do not really like the mass cult obsession that surrounds that game as a whole. <rant> It is crazy, it is all I hear when I walk down the halls in my school, or see when I go into the library. Everyone only wants to talk about and play minecraft. The worst is the youtubers that spend hours and hours and hours filming themselves playing this game, and people watch it!!! Like all the way through!! They are watching... OTHER PEOPLE... play video games. That is really sad IMHO. Anyways. </rant>
Have you acctualy played Minecraft? I spend a lot of time in it and I think that if you did you would grow to appreciate what you can do. I am currently using redstone to build a calculator from the ground up, a task that would be almost impossible in real life. As for the videos, people are not so much interested in the game as the people. The game merely provides them a stage to preform. I fell it is a shame Minecraft pi had to be stripped down so much.
I did play a load of Minecraft from infdev all the way up to the adventure update, but I stopped recently.
it seems like it has already been done here http://pi.minecraft.net/ you can download it for free haven't tested it out myself
as to the whole minecraft rant its like marmite you either love it or you hate it but it has got 2 side its a learning tool and its a endless game to pass the time
its like a lot of things that are used as learning tools they then find a second use as a game or something to do to pass the time
i personally think that it is a great game I'm 21 and i play it about once a week with my 11 year old brother and my 25ish year old friend
i think its great at taking gaming back to simple blocks and stripping the fancy graphics out of it
it is a game that you decide the rules
shane
I understand that, but the massive cult fallowing of the game scares me.
its like the digital justin beiber
