Could you build a 3' tall New Years Eve Ball that counts down to New Years?
I think this would be a fun and wonderful little project, and I would love to see Ben's take on it.

I would make this using linear and threaded rods, like the z axis of a 3d printer. Hook it up to an arduino and an rtc and your done.
