DIY Gamepad with Arduino

Hey Ben! How's everything? I'm from Argentina so my English is not perfect image

I always wanted to know how to build a DIY USB gamepad with an Arduino (maybe with a different, smaller microcontroller), and maybe you can help me with a video. I want to do it like PlayStation's (4 directions, 10 buttons and 2 axis with two more buttons in each). The axis are not necessary but if you can do them, it will be better if you include them. Also, I want to put a name to the Gamepad (when you connect it or see it in software like joystick testers, RetroArch). I would be glad if you could make a video telling us how to make it. Thank you!

Well, I don't know about giving the device a name over USB, but an Arduino Leonardo or a teensy should be suitable. Unlike other microcontrollers which only emulate a serial port, they are able to emulate usb HID devices. For this project I would recommend the teensy as it is smaller and cheaper than the Arduino. Ben has used them a few times, for example in his raspberry pi portable to control the joystick and buttons or more recently in his gaming foot pedals. If you are interested, here is the link. https://www.pjrc.com/teensy/
