Phone Booth Art Project

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

I live in a small one-square mile town that has 2 unused phone booths - one inside a school and the other in a restaurant. Taking a page form an art project in Montclair some years ago I would like to create a "History Phone" that would allow people to dial a year, and then someone can hear something about that year in the town's history. I would also love the opportunity for people to leave a message that can be heard at either the same phone or the other phone in town. Can a Raspberry pi handle this?

If you have some airflow over the board, cooling is not a problem.I suggest not to run above 700 Mhz default for the processor to make sure. Clem

    Sounds like an interesting project.

You might also be able to play the audio using an Arduino and something like the WTV020-SD-16P: http://letsmakerobots.com/files/WTV020_manual_V1.3.pdf

A discussion about the module is available here: Arduino library for WTV020-SD-16P audio module

Would a Raspberry pi processor be good to use? Is cooling an issue with the unit?
