Hey Ben I Have been tinkering with the Raspberry Pi circuit board when I came across your youtube channel. The first video I watched was you're second briefcase 3D Printer. It occurred to me that there are some linux cad programs out there. Why don't you take out the step of having to create a design using an external computer and have the Raspberry Pi on board directly connected to the 3d printer. Like an all in one. I would love to see a detailed video of how you would do it.

The reason he does use a desktop is simple, most programs to design with takes allot of Ram and usally a good graphic ability. Usally Desktops and a few Laptops have the ability to do that, but a Pi is closer in specs to a Tablet or low end Netbook. The Pi just does not have the power to do this.

But there are several micro form factor computers made today that might be able to do this. Lenovo makes a computer that is 6 inch by 8 inch by 1 inch that just might be able to do what you are thinking.
