Ways to repurpose an old portable dvd player

Ben, for your next build you should try to find an old portable dvd player and hack it into something much more interesting (raspi monitor, portable console, etc.)

As for the model, just a suggestion, Curtis dv8007c . Might be a bit of a challenge with this model but have fun.

If the player has AV in, then repurposing it as a monitor is very easy, just plug in the pi with the correct cable. If not, then it is best used as either a DVD player or for parts, re using LCDs is not cost effective due to the time required.

I think I saw on Instructables a nice idea: use the tray of the DVD player as base for an etching tank, and open / close the tray to shake the tank, That way the etching solution gets moved around, making the process faster.
