A wireless touchscreen monitor.

Hey Ben,

My friend and I are huge fans of the show! We would like to see (or at least find out how to make) a wireless touch screen monitor to mirror a desktop and provide control as we move around the house. For example to bring recipes to the kitchen, or continue watching a video, much like the Wii u tablet does for gaming.

We were thinking it should be about 14", 16:9, and feature independent volume & power controls (if possible).

Hope you consider it!

Thanks a lot,

Josh Lilienthal

the answer is simple just use a standard consumer grade tablet and give it access to your home network, where you store your data( f.e. a FreeNAS), you have full acces via wifi and can manipulate the data…

don´t forget you have to deal with transmission of Picture in one way and Input in the other with minimal lag... I don´t get the point of your demand do you want to take the computing power of your pc…

all right I been thinking and researching things and I think we should talk. First off, if I uderstand you rigt, you want a touchscreen that is wireless but will acess your laptop/desktop computer screen and functioins. Well first I did a search on the concept to see if there is a allready made version we can virtual disassemble to make our version. Unfortanetly there isn't. Next I desided to see if there was a way to cast to say a HDMI portable TV. I did find this was possible. You would need some kinf of casting device connected to the HDMI tv but at this point you have made a smart tv which really would make it harder to use because you would need bluetooth keyboard and mouse to use the device on the TV. This still would not have a touchscreen to control the computer and you would ten need a second keyboard and mouse to run the computer. This would leave us with using a remote access software to acess the computer from a remote sources. To do this you will need a second computer (Tablet, Smart Phone) and then you would be able to acess the screen, the problems here would be a that the remote acess programs are generally laggy even in powerful signals networks also to do this you would be using a computer so why not use the computer you are holding to pull up the video on instead of first streaming the video to the desktop or laptop then streaming it across your own network to that handheald computer. Of these I think just using a tablet and team viewer to get files from the computer to the handheald computer would be your best bet since you will have touch screen control, the ability to stream videos, and the ability to acess your files.
