A machine that can switch between CNC mode and 3d printing mode. Maybe with interchangeable heads or 1single head that rotates and locks into place

This idea comes up quite a lot around here. Whilst it has been done (https://www.buildyourcnc.com/whiteAnt3DPrinterandCNCMachine.aspx) there are numerous disadvantages compared to separate units. Most 3d printers are designed to allow for fast, low torque movement to quickly print objects. CNC machines do the opposition to allow hard materials like wood or metal to be cut. Unfortunately this puts combo machines at a major disadvantage, with slow print times or poor cutting capability.
