Foosball Table 2.0

Hi Ben,

Many time watcher 1 time commenter.  With all your work on pinball tables and the slow demise of table games like Foosball is there are way you could combine bumpers and lights to resurrect both gaming devices.  You could put bumpers in the corners of the Foosball table because it always gets stuck there anyways.  You could also put flippers at the goals to add 2 more players so there could be 1 person at each end of the table and use the flippers like you would with pinball.  It would change the dynamic of the game considerably.  You could have a new 2 player game where the the people put all the players up so they will stay up with magnets or something and just play head to head with the flippers.  How much would it be to have you create a prototype of this, a possible partnering, or just a open source patent on this.  I think it would rekindle old school passion for both games!

  • I like this idea. I wonder if an Arduino can control all this.

     

    My first thoughts would be;

    1. Optical sensor at the goal to keep score

    2. LED's inside players heads and around table to celebrate a goal with accompanying music.  (A quick Google search shows lighted foosball tables, but they only blink on and off.)

    3. Custom 3D printed players (I had this idea a couple years ago. 3D scan your friends and make custom teams)

        3a. Removable player rods - Instead of sliding through the sides, they pull straight up. This will have a locking wedge that slides over to keep them in place.

        3b. Lighted numbered players.

    4. Maybe a sensor on the foot so when you score it knows what player made the point. At the end of the game it shows the MVP.
