Frameless MIDI Laser Harp

Hey guyes. I'm computer engineering student, last year before masters degree. I'm watching your show for a while, and I really really enjoy every second of your every episode. Love the humor I have an idea about your (hope so) future project. A frameless MIDI Laser Harp! I built one for my bachelors degree project, but not with Galvanometer, its with the stepper motor. I dare you to build one with Galvos

That sounds like a really neat idea and build! Could you provide more information about your build? I can't quite make out how it works from the pictures. Is it like a theremin where the sound varies depending on the distance of where the beam is broken/reflected?

Sry, i didnt see that I didnt come up with pictures with a sensor. I used the LDR sensors connected in series. The main principle for detecting broken beams is TIME or more exactly, step motor STEPS
For every step that motor makes, the beam fires, then LDR checks if the beam is reflected from the palm of your hand. If is, then MIDI signal is send to play a note (over USB from Arduino in my case). So everything happens so fast that eye (and ears) think that beams are fixed and soudn is constant (practicaly it is). I added some potentiometer, so I could adjust the sensitivity of LDRs. Im sending now some more pictures, i think you will figure it out now

I've been learning ukulele and guitar lately. Maybe not too dissimilar to a harp? And I have enough wings in my costume box that we can all have a pair. More fairy than angel, though.

Plenty of opportunity here I suspect for angels with wings, devils with tridents, puffs of smoke catching the laser beams, almighty voiceovers, regrettable acting, etc...
