I stumbled across Bens site searching for "follow me" robot platform designs. That's when I watched him and a guest Mr Robinson build a "follow me suitcase." Why you ask?
I want to build a follow me project for disabled people who use oxygen tanks. Because I thought it would be cool to have a motorized platform with a few oxygen tanks stacked on so they wouldn't have to be carried, which are a bit heavy, or having to pull a wheel tank along, leaving you with only one hand Free. Besides havin ing multiple tanks would enable much longer walk abouts.
Of course it would be a little different because you still have to deal with canulas hooked to the tanks but it would still be able to be hands free if it were like attached to a belt with some kind of pull sensor.
So that all came about when I was studying DYI lipo battery packs to power the system. When I saw you were using lead acid battery then I thought, well a group of 18650 lipos would be lighter stronger last much longer, powerful, and a much more efficient way to power the Follow me suitcase, but you video was a few years old So things have changed.
Its Sept 20, 2016 now and I'm sure things have come a long way except for curing COPD. I'm just starting to learn the how to's of making this idea happen. Enjoy your videos very much.
things that would be different 1: lighter stronger batteries in fact I've seen luggage you can ride now. 2: motors are much better and you could use skate board motors which are really powerful. 3: charge the batteries at any plugin outlet with a small RC battery charger. 4 you could build it strong enough to ride it around for hours or walk and have it follow you. 5 carrying several tanks of oxygen or taking a portable oxygen machine would enable lots of freedom.
