Hey, haven't written to you in a while but i have come up with a great project idea... Are you still taking challenge ideas through email?
I recently purchased a nonworking Atari Lynx II, and was going to retrofit it with an RPI and make an emulation machine.. but I have done several of those already. I was thinking, maybe an original hardware Atari 2600 hacked into it, with a built in screen etc.. with a twist..
The Atari Lynx has a cartridge slot opening in the back.. which is not large enough for a full size Atari cart, and I don't want to open those up and create dozens of chips without ESD protection...
You may or may not have heard of the Harmony cart, it takes SD cards with roms on it, I was thinking wiring the Harmony cart guts to the cartridge slot terminals on the original Atari board and putting the SD card slot opening where the Lynx cartridge slot opening is.. and viola! A multi-game unit.. The Lynx II is great because it has space, lots of screw down places inside, places for already existing buttons, and d-pad, and even space to mount a pot for a paddle.
Like I said, I don't know if you're still taking ideas, but I am willing to not only send you all the materials but pay for your time to see it done, and it might make a great show for Element 14!
Please get back to me either way..
By the way, I still have the original 2600 landscape unit you built years ago with the cartridge slot that puts the cartridge in the sun visor position (bought it from you at $500 on ebay nearly 11 years ago!)
Thanks, hope to hear from you soon!
