With the rarity and obscure pricing of the Nintendo GameCube Component/D-Terminal cables, I would really like to know if its possible to reverse engineer the special lockout chip or bypass it altogether.

Isn't the GameCube cable the same that was used for the N64 and the Super Nintendo? What lockout chip are you referring to?

The Nintendo GameCube has 2 propietary video cables that only one series of the system takes advantage of. They use the same standard AV composite cables, but earlier GameCubes are capable of Digital Video output, and have a seperate propietary cable for it that renders video through YPbPr analog connectors. It has a lockout chip in the propietary end that converts the digital video to analog signal and guarantees no third party development of the cables
