Hmm, I guess if you had an even louder Snap then you'd have the power?
Anyways... the Sega Master System and the Sega Game Gear were apparently quite similar.
So my suggestion would be to make a hybrid console + portable in which you could play both systems on your TV screen and on the go. The whole thing would be on a tablet-like device with a battery and detachable controllers (2!) so that you could play with a friend or your younger/older brother/sister (...sibling, relative of any kind, etc.) if the game allowed. Said tablet would also connect to a dock that would allow it to connect to your TV and charge the tablet's battery when docked.
Games could be played via cartrige (so slots for both systems) OR, if it would be considered a more elegant solution, ROMs loaded on an SD card.
To realize this, one could easily go for the emulation route, using a RPi or whichever SBC you'd like the best, but it would be way more interesting if it was treated kind of like the Game Brains hybrid console Ben worked on in 2015 (but never finished!).
But sure, using more modern components wherever possible.
