Hey all, not sure if people remember the ultra mobile pcs such as the Sony Vaio from the distant past way back in 2009, but wouldn't a more modern version be awesome for paying that mountain of steam games you've been ignoring?
For full compatibility I'd love to see a working keyboard and mouse combo so you could play any steam games you fancy, although using an xbox 360 controller would probably be more practical / usable. It would also need a built in battery capable of supplying at least 2.5 amps at 5 volt to give at least an hours runtime, speakers and of course an awesome compact design.
You might think this is not doable in a week, however using products such as the Intel Compute Stick and hdmi touch screens available from adafruit it becomes much more easy. I set myself the challenge a couple of months ago and it took significantly longer, I can provide a video of my version if people are interested to get an idea of what is possible in terms of form factor.
Using a compute stick also means you can pop in a more powerful version when it gets released (as it should do soon), for a more forward thinking portable.
I would love to see Ben Heck solve this problem in a much more elegant way than I did, its also something useful and fairly unique!
What do you guys think, would you like to see something like this too?
