As a word of warning, the display shown here for sale is not the display in the video and in fact does not have any graphics acceleration support. It is not possible as far as I know to run retropie or cupcade OS on this display

Updated:By following this guide you can configure this display to work correctly as with this project here. It requires you to use a script to mirror the HDMI on the GPIO screen.

    https://github.com/watterott/RPi-Display/blob/master/docu/FAQ.md#how-to-mirrorcopy-the-hdmi-output-to-the-display

Very cool! I was thinking about building something like this but made to look like BMO from adventure time. I ended up building a landscape/tablet style Portable Pi with 5" touchscreen. I need to get into Pi Emulation more!!!

Great project.  Who doesn't love the arcade classics, and to have them all fit in your hands, how cool is that.

Element 14 requires that you buy 5000 of this item! https://www.element14.com/community/view-product.jspa?fsku=1107336&nsku=18X4693&COM=noscript

Is there a substitute that doesn't require me to hang on to 4999 extra

Nevermind - for those interested, the substitute is 77R9293 from Element14

Was there ever a schematic to follow for this project? Or even one to utilize the LTC4006 for charging and powering the Pi and Screen?

If you want a quick turn double-sided PCB, check out Advanced Circuits (www.4pcb.com). They are relatively inexpensive and can ship boards in about a day. They also have a free DFM tool (Design for Manufacture) that you import you board into; once examined they email you a price quote - even if you don't order boards, it's nice to see the DFM results.

This is one of the coolest retro 80's style project that I have seen for the Raspberry Pi and to have it all work with just the A+ model is a PLUS too.  (yes pun intended)

I am new to the Raspberry Pi (just got my new Model B+) and I am already looking forward to ordering my A+ board for this project.

How long until there is a part list and being able to order the circuit card and parts needed to start my own build?

Keep up the great work and I cannot wait until you have part 2 up for us to view!

    Cheers!!
