android Tablet idea /BEN'S DA BOSS

Hey, i just saw your first show and thought it was great! Iv been waiting for a show like this, and i think your the best one for the job. I was wondering tho, with all the talk about tablets these days, is there any chance you could a build a tablet on the show? iv been doing a lot of research, but i cant find the right parts to put together a simple android tablet. The tablet would be around 8 to 10 inches, use a capacitive touch screen (resistive screens are really annoying to use). for now my only alternative would be to mod a netbook, but for some reason i don't like the thought of a tablet with a fan in it. if you think you can do it, or if anyone thinks they can help, I'm all ears.

This would be AWESOME. One of the things I would want to see in this is at least a 1280 x 720 screen. The only tablet with a screen that size is the joojoo as far as I know, and the screen quality is a little questionable. Which tablet would it be based off though? Any suggestions?

Change the name of this topic so it can be found easier.

Touch screen e-reader computer. I approve. I'm of the opinion that it doesn't need to be fancy or flashy. Just something that you can read books or watch movies on. Bigger than a iPhone, maybe smaller than an iPad, but cheaper than both. Maybe use salvaged parts too.

I was thinking that it maybe possible to underclock an atom processor, enabling it to be used without a fan....just a heat sink. The benifit would be that these processors are cheap, and could enable the tablet not only to run android, but maybe even dual or triboot say, Linux, Android, and OSX..???? the best thing tho would be to use a newer Qualcomm processor, possibly the QSD8672 which is dual core . the benefit would be, a slimmer less power consuming tablet. The problem is i have know idea where to buy a single Qualcomm processor,  what kind of motherboard id need to fit a processor like that, or what i would do when i even got a motherboard that was compatible..BUT THATS WHY WE GOT BEN!

PS if you want to take a look heres Qualcomms snapdragon line of processors http://www.qualcomm.com/products_services/chipsets/snapdragon.html

I was just thinking, maybe if we take apart an amazan kindle, we can get out the 3g modual and put it in the tablet. With a little hacking maybe we can even have free 3g in it!

A tablet is much more than an e-reader. A tablet can be used for web browsing, movies, music, pictures, and with android tons of apps and games.....

I have a Dell Mini10 netbook running win7 starter and in the power settings when in power save setting it  has an option to turn off the fan. I figure it must under clock it and just  rely on the heatsink. I haven't done any research if that is actually what happens but figured it shoul be safe to use but it a Dell so you never know.
