I'd like to be able to take pics of wildlife in the woods behind my house.
My challenge for you is to build a weatherproof enclosure for a digital camera with IR/motion sensor, IR flash, timing circuitry, etc.
Allow to select single shot, multishot, and/or video recording for X seconds.
Possible parts:
- Digital Camera with remote control
- Arduino or other microcontroller with IR LED to send commands to camera
- 2X40 LCD screen for command/status/config/communication
- sensor
- LEDs for "flash"
- Motion Sensor
- BIG battery pack so device will run for weeks
- weatherproof enclosure (Tupperware? Pelican Case?)
- straps for attaching to tree/post
- A/C wall-wart power option for backyard use??
Challenges:
- would need way to turn camera on/keep powered on for long term
- IR signals for controlling camera would be brand/model-specific
- battery life would be an issue, but weight would not, so lead-acid batteries are a possibility
