My xbox 3RROD Fix

fbys294
fbys294 over 14 years ago
I’ve fixed a couple of xbox 360 3RROD but I ran into a stubborn system that just didn’t want to work. so I decided to add a fan on top of the GPU to cool it (I think it's the GPU).  When I was done it worked and with this mod it makes it easier to flash your system whenever you want. I didn’t have the right tools and supplies, so it looks a little weird. Originally I thought of adding two fans on the side but I ran into a power drain problem and decided to use one fan. I think the reason I ran into that problem is because I didn’t solder anything.
Feel free to ask questions.

Nice to see others on here are into console hacking.

I'm planning on doing some preventative measures on my own, removing the internal SATA driveand popping it into a HD-drive caddy,

and replacing the existing under rated GPU heathink with a spare CPU heatsink.

I'm relatively lucky as I mothballed my xbox upon purchase. I didn't apply any updates as I don't really play games, so I was able to modify the firmware to allow

me to play with homebrew developement.

I have to admit though I'm a little disappointed that libxenon doesn't really seem to have taken off. I was hoping libxenon was going to help

the "scene" avoided all the distribution complications with people using illegal dev tools, but alas another console to abandon due to my own ethics image, my son isn't complaining however.

Cool, So are you working on a Media system, that is possible to swithc the DVD drive for an HD dvd, but then you'll have to do alot of firmware reasearch if you still want to play games. Most of the time I don't use my pramiary system for the mods, I buy the broken $20 systems on ebay, that's if you don't need the dvd key(If your not planing on planing xbox360 games). I've never heard of libxenon but doing some quick googling, it looks like the project has started.
