If you look on YouTube you will find some amazing videos of stepper motors playing music from Super Mario and even Listz's Hungarian Rhapsody (also Bohemian Rhapsody) using Arduino and a controller for the stepper motors. The motors turn through at varying rates to produce the pitch of the notes. It gives me a real buzz to see something used in a way it was not designed for. I have seen three stepper motors used to produce different harmonies but could you use ten and then convert any midi file to stepper motor music to create a stepper motor orchestra?
