The Problem:
An old Dell laptop needs to be reformatted, the case has gotten shabby looking to.
The Idea
Remember all those movies of the future (as seen by 1990). Computers are built into desks and can do anything you want just by speaking directly into their holographic AI interface.
Well, remember those "Old Computers" poor people had in the future. They had no screen, but a Headset Display Interface, used tiny data cartridges that looked like a Gamecube disk encased in a glass postage stamp, and could only do a handful of tasks. Well why not bring that functionality into a dying laptop, in order to give it new life.
Step 1. Remove Non Essential Components
Scrap the Hard-Drive, the DVD/CD Drive, the Screen, the Battery, the Mouse-Pad and the Speakers.
Step 2. Update Components
Visual Interface: Strip the Video Output and make it a port for a pair of Headset Display Goggles.
Audio: Move the Audio Jack to the same side as the Video Out
Data Storage: Incorporate a Compact Flash Memory Card Reader
Data Player: Incorporate a Second Compact Flash Memory Card Reader
Networking: Incorporate a Lan Switch with 10 Ports (one hard wired to Motherboard)
Step 3. Preload Windows XP onto the Data Storage Flash Card
Step 4. Making a New Case
The new case will be Clean, Sharp, and straight forward. A representation of how it will look when completed is included in the attachment
The Final Product
A machine that is slick and stylish, while being lighter and smaller than its predecessor. Programs are used one at a time, and are installed onto individual Flash Cards. Saved data is placed onto another set of Flash Cards. The Machine has no programs installed onto it, allowing the optimal amount of processing power to go to Flash Card Programs. It also boasts a built in LAN Switch for LAN Parties (Can be used even if Machine is turned off). It retains USB Ports, wireless Wifi, and Video Out Pins.
