Seems that there are lots of musicians, including myself, that play video games at home or on the road.....why not make a music themed classic console that's semi portable! And in this case...the guitar players Atari 2600.
You could use a little practice amp...bout 12 in wide....for housing the flat lcd screen, (2) player input jacks, (1) speaker, atari console, power button, and controls. Controls on the "amp" would consist of (1) volume pot, (2) difficulty knobs, (2) tact switches or knobs for select and reset, and (6) 5 way selector knobs. These knobs will let the player decide how the buttons are laid out on the controller. For the controller....a Guitar Hero Xplorer or Les Paul. Now for games that require Paddles....have no fear....The whammy bar would be cool......but how bout using a Wah Pedal instead! As far as the cartrige slot is concerned...the front bezel would be nice...but there might not be enough space..so through the top would work. OR you could make a "foot switch" cart slot thing that comes around from the back of the amp. To top things off...have cables that can be unplugged and put into your gig bag.
I think this would be an awesome project that would not take long to make. The Atari is an great console and real easy to work with. Plus....guitar players could get some practice while playing something other than Guitar Hero. Bring on some Demon Attack, Dragonfire, and Pitfall! Heck Yeah!
