This may very well be nearly impossible, or at least prohibitively difficult, but I wanted to mention it anyway.
The Virtual Boy is pretty impressive for its time, but it required a row of LEDs and oscillating mirrors, and was a literal pain in the neck to use. It would be much more practical and fun if it could be changed to use a parallax barrier LCD display. I have seen that someone has found a way to get VGA output from a Virtual Boy (http://www.projectvb.com/tvvga.html), but the question remains of how to connect that to a parallax display, and where to even obtain such a display (other than dismantling a 3DS or Fujifilm's 3D camera).
