help, Rebuilding a better battery for no-name netbook.

Hey Ben,

I have a no-name netbook that I got a few years ago and the battery life only has 1 hour left. I'm trying to find a replacement battery for it but I can't seem to find it. I have no part number to go by. It would be awesome if you or anyone here could help me rebuild the battery by replacing the cells inside. Maybe you could even make it better!

I appreciate any help I can get!

Ray

Google how to bring a battery back to life.  There is a bunch of youtube videos on how to shock it back to life.  Or if you want to pay for a guide you can search it on eBay and a bunch of people sell tutorials.

I don't think shocking will help, I might need a new battery.

If its Lithium-Ion, shocking it would be extremely dangerous! its sort of ok to do to  nihm and a few other lead batt types, but always be prepared for explosion / splashback.

Rayjai; Try carefully opening the battery housing and see if you can find some identification on the cells you may be able to replace them. Just be careful and remember to replace them all as they are usually paired.

Or gut the battery shell and replace all the cells and charger circuitary, who knows you might end up with more runtime than it had as new. Alternatively  I think systm did an episode on improving laptop battery life using external sources a while back

Hi, I managed to crack open the case and this is what I found, it's so different from the guides out there. Does anyone know if i can add extra cells to it?

I can post more images if needed.

    Thanks

I would advise against adding additional cells, li-ion can be dangerously unpredictable especially cheaps ones and I doubt that controller could handle it. Google couldn't pull up any data on those part numbers, but these look like they might be a suitable replacement. Anything else would require ditching the lot and building from the ground up. Does the netbook have any identification numbers. Make/model?
