Challenge for Ben. Sonar imaging video out mod.

Would like to see if Ben could Modify a Sonar Imaging fish finder such as the "Lowrance Elite 5 DSI" or the "Humminbird 570c DI" unit to have a "video out" connection that could be connected to a laptop or another external monitor. Since most sonar imagers for boats are a small screen. It would be nice to have a laptop size screen or monitor size screen so others could view the images without crowding over someones shoulder or having to squint at the small screens. I know larger screen units are avaliable but I do not... meaning, can not afford a $4000-$5,000 machine. The Sonar Imaging units I am writing about give a picture like view of the sea/river/lake floor and structures that lie below like ships, bridge columns, cars etc... Very cool looking if I could see it on a larger screen. :-)

By taking the data from the cheap sonar fish finder's sensor with a data acquisition module, you may be able to deduce the sensor's image. Ultimately, this will be a software project.

After a quick search I found that Humminbird has a PC connection kit already. Unless you want a new project to work on, I would go with their system.

The fish will never stand a chance now.

It Seems That The Pc Connectivity Kit Is Just For Software Downloads or updates and not avaliable fot every unit. Also it would not allow the small screen to be viewed on a larger display or laptop.  I was wanting a MOD. to allow a video out connection that maybe could be rewired to have a "video out" connection such as a usb, hdmi, serial port etc... That could have a quick and simple connection that could be plugged into a larger screen or display. I would really enjoy to view one of the units I wrote about above on a larger screen. These are the ones that have higher photo like view of the bottom composition and structures that I am interested in as I am a diver and do not fish.
