Hi Ben, I am a mechanical engineering student but I'm also interested a lot in electronics. The thing I hate the most is the annoying sound of my alarm clock! I've found out on google that there are alarm clock that imitates a sunset. I don't know if you already saw one but basically, it's a standard alarm clock but you have the choice to gradually turn on a light on the top of it (supposed to imitate the sun) something like 30 or 15 minutes before the time you've set before. I was decided to buy one before I see the price of these: it's something like 200$-300$. The thing that is expensive is the bulb that imitates the sun, and it has a short lifetime. Personally, I don't really care about the good health effects of the sun spectrum, all I cound want is to wake up softly, if possible. I think this would be a great idea to build a "low-budget" alarm clock using light to wake you up with a standard light bulb that could be used with another alarm clock, a USB port or to be standalone clock. Thanks for consideration!
