I have a sump in my basement. I worry that if the pump were to fail while I'm away from the house, the basement could flood.
I'm thinking about an Arduino based monitor that would sense the water level in the sump. If it reaches a predetermined level, it would trigger a Tweet to my cell phone alerting me of a problem. For peace of mind, I could send it a tweet and it would tweet back with the current water level, and how many times in the past hour the pump emptied the sump.
I Love the show. Thanks for the inspiration! My last project was a 4 lane Arduino based slot-car lap counter/timing system using phototransistors as lane sensors.
