Project Idea: Work bench with a built in PC

Hi Ben,

I've been kicking around the idea of building a work bench with a built in PC, so while I'm building something I can easily view my project notes and schematics without sacraficing surface space for a monitor. Basically what I was going for was having the monitor set into the surface of the bench with a sheet of plexiglass protecting it that is flush when the surface. And have the computer parts in one of the drawers so it is easily accessable and stays free of sawdust. Adding some way to put USB ports on the surface of the bench so they are easily accessable but also stay free of debris (probably with some sort of cap) would be nice. And lastly a power strip somewhere on the inside of the bench so you would only need to plug that in.

So that's my idea, any advice or input from you or any of the community would be most appreciated.

Love the show,

BIll

if you are going to be putting in the table with plexiglass over it, why not see if you integrate a touch screen monitor with windows 8 installed you could use it at same time while working without losing the mouse and keyboard or getting them damaged with the use of power tools or getting them tangled with power tools which is dangerous.

Dont use Plexiglas, Lexan or polycarb etc... use propper hardened Glass, anything less than this will scratch!

I usually just prop up my iPad behind my work and read the PDF's off it.

But a PDF reader could be a good use for an older PC / monitor.
