hey Ben i was wondering if you could do a episode on how to make a solar tracking system I've been trying to figure this out for a long time to help my family get off the grid and be a little more green for some time now. but i just am not to terribly bright when to comes to figuring out circuits mine always end up being terrible and don't do anything so i was wondering if you could help me.

Solar panels are expensive enough, mechanizing them even moreso.

Not sure the efficiency boost of following the sun would be worth the cost of mechanizing.

    Hi, Ben

I would like to see you build a solar tracker and I think it would be worth the cost. Alternatively, you could build a solar tracking device for a solar cooker instead of solar panels; the concept would be the same, but less expensive parts could be used. If someone wants to use heavy solar panels then they could use bigger motors and more MOSFETs.

You could use an old satellite dish to make a parabolic dish solar cooker with solar tracking. If the cost of the solar tracker is low, maybe it could be used in third world countries, to cook food without having to move the cooker every 15 minutes to keep it aligned with the sun.

(I would like to see ether case) Thanks

I like the idea of a solar food cooker. That seems smaller and easier to implement.

Solar panels are EXPENSIVE. If they weren't, everyone's house would be covered with them! But we're not there yet.

I worked  with a company that used a parabolic dish for additional lighting, at the time they just used a timer system that would start in the morning and slowly move the dish throughout the day, then reset back to about the same starting point the next morning and start all over again. It did work, I think a simple light to frequency chip would be a better tracking and set it up like a phase lock loop so it would always follow the optimum frequency. Come on Ben you can do it!

    Hi, Ben

Putting a solar tracking device on a solar cooker would be a great and anyone that wants to use a solar tracker for solar panels could just beef it up.

I am no expert, but I could help with brainstorming and design, if you want.

    Thanks
